About Canterbury’s Child Development Center

Choosing a childcare center for your children is one of the most important decisions you will make. The Canterbury Child Development Center (CDC) provides care in a safe, warm, and nurturing environment that will enable your child (ages 6 weeks – 5 years) to grow and develop through developmentally appropriate activities. We strive to create a place for social, emotional, intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth for your child. The CDC is an accredited member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

We strive to create a place for social, emotional, intellectual, and spiritual growth for your child.
  • Mission Statement

Canterbury’s Child Development Center is a ministry that provides a constructive and meaningful program for young children under the guidance of trained personnel in a Christ-centered environment. We strive to:

    – Provide a loving and developmentally-appropriate environment.
    – Nurture children’s physical, socio-emotional, cognitive, and spiritual development.
    – Collaborate with families on their child’s development.
    – Facilitate the understanding that all people are special to God.

  • Curriculum

The Child Development Center uses The Creative Curriculum® in all classrooms. The curriculum incorporates a balance of planned activities designed to help preschool children progress toward meeting developmentally-appropriate goals, as well as improvised activities that emerge from the children’s interests or from unexpected experiences.

In conjunction with the use of Creative Curriculum, the CDC uses Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) as the primary assessment tool. Children are assessed through observations of peer interactions and play, developmental checklists, and portfolios of their work. Assessment is documented and made available to the parents online.
