About Genesis: The Genesis Class has been a vital part of adult learning at Canterbury UMC for may years. It is lecture style, but participation is encouraged. We don't follow a specific lesson plan but tackle subjects of interest to the people leading discussion and to the people in the class. We have conducted in-depth discussions of grief, the Parables, the Gospels, the letters of Paul, the books of C.S. Lewis, the books of Henri Nouwen, and the theology of John Wesley. Study guides are often provided for most lessons, but prior reading is not necessary to follow the lesson. As a matter of fact, the lessons are designed to follow a theme but do not require you to attend every class to understand the overall message. Each lesson always has a scriptural foundation.
Outreach Activities: Genesis members actively participate in church activities including the youth programs, children's ministry, Confirmation, the Kingdome, and many other inreach and outreach projects. Specifically, the Genesis Class provides volunteers on the the first Wednesday of every month at the Firehouse Shelter (www.firehouseshelter.com)
Visitors are welcome! We look forward to meeting you!
